Frequently Asked Questions

Free CLE courses are available to Idaho attorneys who pledge to accept a case through the Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program (IVLP). To unlock a course, contact Sue Pierson at spierson@isb.idaho.gov to receive an IVLP Pledge Form. Once you complete the pledge, you will receive access to the recorded CLE.

These courses cover substantive legal areas commonly needed in pro bono work — family law, elder law, consumer issues, civil protection orders, naturalization, and more. The recording lengths range from approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours each.

CLE credit availability depends on your state's accreditation rules. Courses accessed through IVLP rental agreements may not carry ABA CLE credit for recorded viewing. However, if your state allows self-study CLE credit, you can apply directly to your state certification authority for credit.

Contact the Idaho State Bar CLE department if you have questions about whether a specific course qualifies for credit under Idaho's accreditation rules.

The Youth Expungement CLE covers the legal process for expunging juvenile records in Idaho, including eligibility criteria, the petition process, and how expungement affects a young person's future employment and housing prospects.
